Poetry

Here is some poetry I have written that I wish to share. You may interpret it as you wish. If you want to share it with others you may, just say it was written by Darkmist. Comment which one is your favorite!

Listen
This bittersweet melody has a little beat, so just relax and take a seat.
A cold breeze lifts my sorrows away, just roll with me on this one, 'kay?
Every twist in the road is a new way, so please don't take my love away.
Things seem new, a bit too soon,
Though my skies are turning gray.
We turn over a new leaf and everything's okay,
This may be brief, but I’m not chief,
So just please don't walk away.

Riddle
The swallow sings such a sad melody;
Tell me, why must this be?
Does the lion always roar with tenacity,
Must the mouse have such low capacity?
Will the spider and rain forever remain,
Enemies for no one’s gain?
Is the duck to the swan still but a pawn?
Can’t a bat see straight in its own weight?
Why must the sun and moon never swoon,
At the sight of what is reduced to a rune?
Please answer this question for me, for us,
A riddle of rules made by things with no guts.

Another Try
I’d sworn not to cry,
I guess it was another lie,
Already my eyes are growing dry.
This time it felt so new,
Like the sky so baby blue,
Each day the sun rising anew.
Yet again I was mistaken,
I didn’t think this seat was taken,
Guess the sun’s light never changed.

Full Moon
One glance at the moon is never enough,
When time comes to part it’s a little rough,
For the gravity draws me like water, a daughter,
To the pale face above, so like a dove’s.
Dancing shadows below,
Take the shape of a crow,
It gives quite a scare,
I can feel every glare.
Yet I shall follow the trees,
You just need to say please,
And they throw their arms to the sky.
Don’t ask me why; don’t try to be sly,
It’s in front of your nose,
The solution so close.

Dark Ages
When every line is crossed,
A new color must be found,
So we are never lost,
Or cast off to the pound.
We never look back to home,
Or reflect on every tree,
It’s as if we always roam,
Not lost but ever free.

Feel
On summer nights, the crickets chirp with glee,
And we sing about things unseen, like justice and equality.
Yet they are things of shadow, beyond our very touch,
And trying to reach them we fall, and onto things we clutch.

Like insanity and grief, the ever-present fear,
A need for comfort from those things oh so near.
A chaos rages, just beneath our skin,
And many times we wonder how we often win.

A Dragon’s Will
Our wounds were unfazing,
The triumphs had no gloating,
Although no one fled,
Many of us bled,
This war was fought in eternity.

Now we live in fiction,
Coming to extinction,
As if we had no right,
With our hope ever bright,
To live peacefully on Earth.

Medieval times were scary,
Weapons made us weary,
Humans were so close,
That death was at our nose,
Until it came upon us so ever fast.

Shadow
If true love is only in fairytales,
Then it's a wonder they exist.
For reading them, awe never fails,
And the world's dreams persist.

It's hard to believe people could live,
For things that never manifest,
Because not everyone's a detective,
Finding these things must be a pest.

Things of shadow, flitter on the wall,
Travel stealthy with no heed,
Never, will it answer to a call,
but stop for those who need.

Beyond our control, make no mistake,
Are wonders without touch or take.

Growing
In age things are changing, and we begin to show,
What life is really waging, when a child begins to grow.
Maybe it's true we don't remember, how being little felt like,
But maybe being adult isn't December, Maybe we've just outgrown our bike.

It might be unfair that adults forget, how to play tag in the sun,
Or cry without regret, but they have their own kind of fun.
Seeing us learn from the world, and wonder about that star,
Or at night in bed be curled, even gazing out a car.

I know myself that it gives new hope, to anyone in despair,
To see a new soul try and lope, or take its first breath of air.
For no matter where you go, we are all the same,
We laugh and cry, you know, and we always have our name.

Anew
When clouds are darker than the sky,
That's when I wanna know why,
Can true peace really be in hand,
When true rain is here and love's banned?
A hidden truth might come to us all,
As plain as the fact we'll all fall,
So why not? Give life a kick,
Change up this mellow tune,
So we can smooth a sharp nick,
And wonder why to the moon,
We can't have the time of our lives,
Instead of doubting our eyes.

Kindness
Come in now, you'll catch a cold standing there,
What's it to you the snow in the air?
If you be like that I'll wonder why,
A kid in the doorway is acting sly.
I'm not yours to pity and offer bread,
Could be if that cheek's still red.
You know what it's impolite to stare,
I only fell, why do you care?
Watch; I'll leave hot soup in the door,
Maybe a soul will come with no more.
Gaze at the sign, It's not hard to read,
I help those in their time of need.

Sense of it All
Because chaos is better than half-order,
I might break it up right now,
Just so we can find the border,
Between a smile and a frown.
I spread my broken wings,
I can't fail not to fly,
Around me I see the rings,
Of this life as I cry.

Anyway
Yonder shadow, shoot me now, Take me, Gut me, spread my blood around,
Because that's all you've ever cared about, you always had me hear you out,
So be with me forever, swear we'll be together,
Or never say we're the same,
For so long I kept your name.
The words you spoke that day still ring true.
The thought of your touch is forever new.
I hear your voice whisper the sky is blue,
but in the dark madness, who knew?

In the End
In the shadows of a dying world, the truth may come to light,
The way a new child has always known of flight.
To say we humans always fight, could be proving another might,
Right when I gained new sight, and saw that the world is made from fright.
Down to the deepest night, I just know in my soul it's right.
To summon courage and come of height,
To slay the bane of demons that bite.
